Installation of lawn georegittes: step -by -step instruction and selection of quality materials

Lawn geogrids are an effective solution for soil consolidation, forming lawn paths, parking lots, parking lots and other functional areas. They provide surface stabilization, reduce erosion, and also improve the aesthetics of the site. Proper installation of geogrids guarantees durability and reliability of the coating. In this article, we will consider complete installation instructions, as well as talk about products available in the Protex.com.ua online store.
1. Soil preparation is the foundation of success
Before laying geogrids, it is necessary to:
-
Carry out a geological analysis of the soil, in particular to assess water permeability and groundwater level.
-
Determine the need to install a drainage system.
-
Take into account the load: will it be a pedestrian path, an area for cars up to 3.5 tons, or with heavy traffic.
2. Pit and foundation
The work begins with coring (removing the top layer of soil) to the required depth. A slope of at least 1% must be maintained for drainage.
Next, the supporting base is laid:
-
For passenger cars - a layer of 25 cm of crushed stone.
-
For heavy transport - up to 50 cm.
It is recommended to use road ballast, crushed stone or mixed aggregate, compacted with a vibrating plate. We also recommend laying geotextiles for stabilization.
3. Leveling layer
After the base, a layer of sand or sand-gravel mixture 2–3 cm thick is applied. The surface is leveled and compacted.

5. Backfilling and compaction
After installation, the geogrid is filled with crushed stone or gravel 1–1.5 cm above the grid. Suitable fractions for this are 8–16 mm, 16–25 mm or 22–32 mm. Then the surface is compacted again.
6. Final works
-
If you had to cut out individual parts during the installation process (for hatches, curbs, etc.), make sure the connection is strong.
-
If necessary, add filler in areas of subsidence.

Use the coating only for its intended purpose after final sealing.
