How to properly arrange garden paths using universal thermobonded geotextile?

The process of arranging garden paths using universal thermobonded geotextiles includes several steps.

Geotextile laying is carried out as follows:

  • Remove approximately 35 cm of soil and spread the geotextile. The edges of the geotextile should be on top of each other. The overlap along the strips should be 20 cm. Lay a layer of aggregate of the selected granulometric composition 25 cm thick as a carrier layer, the height of which should correspond to the lower plane of the slabs or facing stone after laying. Please note that for proper drainage of rainwater, the entire structure must have a slope.
  • Wet the aggregate of the selected granulometric composition with water. Compact it several times using a vibrating plate or similar tool.
  • Spread the geotextile on the surface of the compacted base layer. The edges of the geotextile should be on top of each other. The overlap along the strips should be 20 cm. Lay a leveling layer of wet coarse sand 5 cm thick at an appropriate height. The leveling layer should not be too thick, as it is not very strong and will not compact. Provide a height margin of 1 cm for the final compaction of the slabs.
  • Lay the slabs side by side. If possible, use taut ropes to keep the slabs level.
  •
  • To prevent the slabs from shifting in the future, install a curb along the outer edge.
  •
  • After the slabs have been laid, fill the joints between the slabs with dry fine sand. Sweep the sand off the slabs and compact them using a vibrating plate or similar tool, depending on the type of slab or facing stone used. Then fill the joints between the slabs with sand again.
