Spay -shaped membrane for bomb shelter

Spay -shaped membrane for bomb shelter

Modern realities require the construction of reliable and durable buildings, in which the presence of bomb shelters is mandatory. In addition to the strength of the structure, a key factor is protection against moisture and groundwater. Excessive moisture in underground spaces causes discomfort, mold growth and accelerated destruction of building materials. Therefore, effective waterproofing and drainage are critically important when arranging protective structures.

Flooding problems and their solutions

Any underground space, including bomb shelters, is exposed to moisture. If proper drainage is not provided, there is a risk of flooding, freezing, structural deformation, and the appearance of fungus.

To prevent these problems, it is necessary to install wall drainage using a spiked membrane. It creates an air gap between the foundation and the soil, which helps drain water and protect the building from the negative effects of moisture.

A spiked membrane is a special waterproofing membrane made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that has cone-shaped protrusions (spikes) along its entire surface. For effective drainage, a membrane with a geotextile layer is used, which retains soil particles and prevents clogging of the drainage system.

Advantages of using a spiked membrane

✔ Reliable protection against water – effective moisture removal and prevention of flooding.

✔ Resistance to aggressive environments – the membrane is not destroyed by chemicals, acids, alkalis, oils and gases.

✔ Mechanical strength – withstands significant loads, resistant to damage by plant roots and construction debris.

✔ Durability – does not rot, does not need replacement for decades.

✔ Quick installation – simple installation that does not require special equipment.

Installation technology

Unfolding the canvas - the membrane is spread along the wall with a geotextile layer to the soil. The upper edge should be 30-100 cm above the backfill level.

Joining the sheets - laying is carried out with an overlap of 10-20 cm, the joints are fixed with butyl rubber tape for sealing.

Fixation - the membrane is attached to the wall mechanically (with dowels in 30 cm increments) or with special strips.

Drainage system - a drainage pipe is laid around the perimeter of the foundation, to which a membrane is connected for effective water drainage.

The use of a spiked membrane is the optimal solution for waterproofing and drainage of underground structures, including bomb shelters. By applying modern technologies, it is possible to guarantee protection of structures from moisture, comfortable living conditions and durability of buildings.
