Geotextile to roofs: reliable protection and durability

Ensure a long service life of your roof using geotextiles! Geotextiles are a modern geosynthetic material that performs an important protective function in roof construction. Due to its strength and elasticity, it protects the PVC membrane from mechanical damage when interacting with the base, which significantly extends the service life of the entire roofing system.
For the arrangement of roofing structures, the optimal solution is thermoset geotextiles with a density of 200 g/m² . It performs important functions: protection, filtration, drainage and separation of layers, ensuring the durability of the roofing "pie".
Areas of application of geotextiles:
Flat roofs with PVC membrane – geotextiles protect the membrane from damage during installation and operation.
Pitched soft roofs – provide additional strength and insulation.
Inversion roofs – used as a distribution layer between thermal insulation and waterproofing.
Green roofs – act as a filtering layer, preventing root growth and soil erosion.
Why is geotextile the optimal choice?
Rot resistance – does not collapse under the influence of moisture and time.
Resistance to bacteria and microorganisms - does not contribute to their spread.
High density – withstands significant mechanical loads.
Elasticity – stretches well without losing strength.
In order for geotextiles to perform their functions as efficiently as possible, it is necessary to follow the technology of its installation. Here are the key stages of proper installation:
Preparing the base
Before laying, level the surface, eliminate irregularities, close cracks and arrange a drainage system. If this is not possible, the base is covered with sand and carefully compacted.
For effective drainage, a small gap of approximately 3 mm is required, which is created by the drainage layer materials - geotextile and spiked membrane . It is also important to ensure the correct slope of the drainage layer of expanded clay gravel of at least 6 mm for every 300 mm for effective water drainage. The membrane must have high strength and be reliably protected in places of bends, such as parapets and curbs, to prevent mechanical damage.
Laying geotextiles
Unroll the rolls and spread the canvas on the prepared base.
Control the overlap:
Minimum – 30 cm.
On uneven surfaces – up to 50 cm.
Carefully align each strip before laying the next one to avoid displacements and difficulties when joining.
Material fixation
Stitching with metal or plastic staples is a reliable method of fastening.
The welded method is more economical and allows you to reduce the overlap to 10 cm.
Foundation and building protection
The geotextile is laid across the entire width of the site, with one edge placed on the base, which ensures the tightness of the junction of the foundation with the walls and soil.
