Application of POLYEX MESH fiber in semi-dry screeds

One of the difficult tasks of the floor arrangement is the final filling of the screed under the finish coating, because the surface must be perfectly smooth, without defects and shrinkage cracks.

We recommend the use of our synthetic polymer fiber POLYEX MESH 12 mm in the preparation of semi-dry cement screed for the mechanized method of floor construction.

What is a semi-dry screed?

The solution for such a screed is prepared directly on the construction site in a pneumatic supercharger, which significantly minimizes transportation costs. The pneumatic supercharger mixes the mixture and feeds it through hoses to the required floor. After the semi-dry solution is laid and rammed on the surface, it is treated with a grinding and grout machine. After this machine treatment, the screed, like glass, is perfectly smooth and smooth.

But there are some unpleasant moments that can still be avoided by using POLYEX MESH fiber with a length of 12 mm.

  • Semi–dry screed is porous. When using such a solution for underfloor heating, the thermal conductivity decreases. To avoid such a situation, we recommend using a plasticizer for the PROTEX underfloor heating. A semi-dry screed cannot be stamped, since the height of the screed itself can be up to 60-70 mm. To prevent stratification of the screed, we add fiber-fiber, which creates reinforcement in three dimensions, which significantly reduces or completely eliminates plastic shrinkage of the cement screed.
  • The porous material is not too strong. By applying POLYEX MESH fiber, we prevent porosity, thereby increasing the strength and wear resistance of the screed.
  • The height of the semi-dry screed can reach 60-70 mm, which significantly reduces the height of the room, because there will still be a finishing coating, which will also have a certain height. Using POLYEX MESH fiber, you can reduce the height of the screed to 30-40mm, which will not affect its strength.

Due to its characteristics, we recommend using POLYEX MESH 12mm fiber in semi-dry screeds for the device not only in private homes, apartments, but also in warehouses and in rooms where there is a high operational load on the screed. After all, polypropylene fiber is an alternative to the use of welded meshes.

What is the consumption of POLYEX MESH 12mm fiber for semi-dry screeds?

The dosage of this fiber is from 0.3 kg / cubic meter to 0.5 kg / cubic meter.

What are the main applications of POLYEX MESH fibers in semi-dry screeds?

  • substitute for welded steel mesh in floors
  • warm self-leveling floors
  • the device of cement-sand floor screed
  • building mortars, dry mixes and plasters
  • casting of small architectural forms from concrete

The use of synthetic Polyex Mesh fiber does not damage the concrete mixing equipment. Packaging bags are completely dissolved in the concrete mass at the mixing stage, without creating unnecessary inconveniences. The fiber passes unhindered through the hoses without clogging them.
