How to properly equip garden paths with the use of universal thermally bonded geotextile?

The process of arranging garden paths using a universal thermally bonded geotextile includes several steps.

The geotextile is laid as follows:

  • Remove approximately 35cm of soil and spread out the geotextile. The edges of the geotextile should be on top of each other. The overlap along the strips should be 20cm. Lay a layer of filler of the selected granulometric composition with a thickness of 25 cm as a bearing layer, the height of which should correspond to the lower plane of the slabs or facing stone after laying. Please note that for proper drainage of rainwater, the entire structure must have a slope.
  • Moisten the filler of the selected granulometric composition with water. Tamp it several times with a vibrating plate or a similar tool.
  • Spread the geotextile on the surface of the compacted bearing layer. The edges of the geotextile should be on top of each other. The overlap along the strips should be 20cm. Lay a leveling layer of wet coarse sand 5 cm thick at the appropriate height. The leveling layer should not be too thick, as it is not very durable and will not be compacted. Provide a height margin of 1 cm for the final tamping of the plates.
  • Lay the plates from one side to the other. If possible, use stretched ropes for smooth laying of slabs.
  • To prevent the plates from shifting in the future, install a curb along the outer edge.
  • After laying the slabs, pour dry fine sand into the joints between them. Sweep the sand from the slabs and stamp them with a vibrating plate or similar tool according to the type of slabs or facing stone used. Then once again pour sand into the joints between the plates.
