How to pour concrete in winter

Concreting in winter is construction work in subzero temperatures. When concreting in the cold period of time, it is necessary to ensure the technologically correct performance of the work, while observing the support of the thermal regime. In order for the structure of concrete not to be disturbed, it is necessary to ensure the hardening of concrete in a warm and humid environment. At the same time, it is not allowed to lay concrete on frozen surfaces covered with ice and snow. When the temperature drops, the concrete needs more time to gain vintage strength. If, at a normal average temperature of about 20-25 ° C, the vintage strength is achieved for 28 days, then with the arrival of cold weather, this time increases to 35-38 days. The preservation of heat and positive temperature is important for the water that is part of the concrete.

To achieve a positive result, you can use one of the following methods:The use of special antifreeze additives

The additive is introduced as a percentage of cement, and the amount depends on the brand of concrete obtained. Our materials will help you easily cope with this task. For example, such an antifreeze additive as NITCAL- S 45. The additive works at temperatures up to -25 ° C, accelerates the strength gain and allows you to get high-density, waterproof concrete. The combined antifreeze plasticizer SANPOL PM -8 is also successfully used, which operates at temperatures up to -15 ° C. Both antifreeze additives slow down corrosion processes, prevent the formation of efflorescences on the surface, have an accelerating effect, prevent possible destruction of concrete structures due to exposure to low temperatures

For covering concrete at ambient temperatures up to -3 ° C, construction PVC film is often used. Such a film will preserve the heat released during the hydration of cement inside the mixture.

Also reliable covering material are three-layer mats made of a layer of tarpaulin, foamed polyethylene and polyethylene film. They provide protection from low temperatures, ultraviolet rays, precipitation and other moisture.

The method of hiding concrete has its advantages:energy saving

  •
  • using the concrete's own heat
  • relative ease of use

With the arrival of winter, it is not necessary to stop construction work. Just choose the method of working with concrete that is right for you.
